Highlights There are several reasons why one may want to visit Palcoyo:
Overall, Palcoyo is a must-visit destination for anyone visiting Cusco who is looking for a unique and beautiful natural wonder, a spiritual and cultural experience, or simply a breathtaking view.
The Palcoyo tour starts with pick-up from hotels between 4:40 am and 5:00 am. We then travel to the city of Pitumarca, which takes about 2 hours. Upon arrival, we enjoy a nutritious breakfast before heading to Combapata. At the Combapata Colonial Bridge, we stop for photos and relaxation.
Next, we arrive at the municipality of Palcoyo, located at an altitude of 4,100 meters. This is where we can observe the beautiful natural landscape and see camels such as alpacas. From this viewpoint, we can see the Sierra de Palcoyo with its three red hills.
We then start the 40-minute walk to Palcoyo and enjoy the fresh and clean air, the local caravans, alpacas, and mountains. At the three mountains of Palcoyo, we admire the stunning colors. We also visit the stone forest of Palcoyo, which takes about 2 hours to visit.
Afterwards, we return to Pitumarca for a buffet lunch and then head back to Cusco, arriving around 5:00 pm.
