Wisdom of the Q'eros Community
Introduction
The Q’ero community, an indigenous group located in the western range of southern Peru, preserves its ancestral traditions and customs with deep devotion. They are renowned for their healing practices and their profound connection with the universe, honoring the principles of nature — reciprocity, love, and respect — with sincerity and reverence.
Explore a high-mountain trek guided by their spiritual masters (Q’ero payment ceremony). Discover the mysteries and secrets of the ancient Tawantinsuyo civilization, safeguarded by “the last Q’ero ayllus.” Enjoy incredible panoramic mountain views and connect with local families filled with magic and ancestral wisdom.
Itinerary
On this spiritual journey in Cusco, we begin with a warm welcome at the airport and a private transfer to your hotel. After settling in, you will have time to rest and acclimate to the altitude.
Later, you may take a gentle walk through the charming streets of Cusco’s historic center, exploring its plazas, temples, and traditional neighborhoods at your own pace. In the evening, enjoy a light and nourishing dinner to support your well-being during the adjustment to the Andean altitude.
Overnight in Cusco.
Our day begins around 7:00 a.m., when we pick you up from your hotel and head to the Temple of the Moon, located near Sacsayhuamán, just 30 minutes from Cusco’s historic center. This sacred place is ideal for connecting with the energies of the universe. Here, we will perform an ancestral retreat from Q’ero and share a conversation about the spiritual path, setting intentions for the journey ahead. After the ceremony, we return to Cusco for lunch.
At 1:00 p.m., we begin our city tour. Our first stop is Qoricancha, the Inca temple dedicated to the Sun. We then continue to Sacsayhuamán, known as the “House of the Sun” during the Inca era, famous for its monumental stone walls. Next, we visit Qenqo—meaning “labyrinth” in Quechua—and Puka Pukara, the red fortress. We conclude at Tambomachay, the temple of water.
The tour ends in the Main Square around 6:30 p.m.
Overnight in Cusco.
Depart from the city of Cusco; leaving early, and after 50 minutes we arrive at the warm “Sacred Valley of the Incas.” We head to the archaeological center of Pisac, of Inca origin, composed of temples, enclosures, terraces, and a cemetery. Then we go to the capital of the Sacred Valley, Urubamba, to enjoy a delicious buffet lunch, where you can taste a variety of traditional Peruvian dishes. In the afternoon, we will visit the archaeological center of Ollantaytambo, where we will have access to incredible views and also appreciate the construction processes from the Inca era, terraces, temples, and more. At the end of our day, we will take the tourist train to Machu Picchu and spend the night at the designated hotel.
Overnight in Aguas Caliente.
On this exciting day, we will explore the modern wonder of Machu Picchu. We begin early with a transfer to the bus station, followed by a 25 minute ride up to the majestic Archaeological Sanctuary. Upon arrival, you will see the agricultural terraces, Inca temples, and ceremonial plazas.
Your guided tour of approximately two hours will reveal the history and mysteries of Machu Picchu. As you admire the massive stone structures and the surrounding mountain range, you will experience the unique energy of this extraordinary Inca cultural center.
After the visit, you will return to Aguas Calientes, where you will have optional free time to enjoy the hot springs or take a short walk through the town perfect for adding moments of relaxation to your journey in Cusco.
Overnight in Cusco.
The excursion begins very early in the morning, heading south on a two-hour drive to the town of Cusipata. From there, we continue for one more hour along a dusty road until reaching the village of Phulawasipata. Here we begin our hike (the local community offers horses for rent).
As we ascend, we will start to enjoy beautiful landscapes accompanied by herds of llamas and alpacas. Soon, the highest mountain in Cusco, Ausangate (21,100 ft), will reveal its impressive glacier, transforming our hike into a magical experience. In the distance, we will observe the daily life of local families, their farmland, livestock corrals, and native wildlife such as chinchillas, Andean geese, and mountain caracaras.
After about two hours of hiking, we reach the main attraction: the Rainbow Mountain, located at 16,600 ft. You will have time to explore and take the best photos of this stunning natural wonder.
We then begin our descent along the same route, returning to the town of Cusipata for lunch, followed by our drive back to the city of Cusco.
