Itinerary
The departure from the city of Cusco will be at approximately 6:30 a.m., heading toward the small archaeological site of Ninamarca. There, we will enjoy a guided visit lasting between 20 and 30 minutes, during which you will learn about the history and significance of this site.
Afterward, we will continue our journey to the picturesque colonial town of Paucartambo, our last stop before reaching the Q’ero community. In Paucartambo, you will have the opportunity to do some last-minute shopping and enjoy a traditional breakfast. The estimated travel time from Cusco to Paucartambo is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Following our stop in Paucartambo, we will resume our journey toward the Q’ero community (Chua Chua). This leg of the trip takes approximately 3 hours, passing through stunning mountain landscapes and pristine natural surroundings. We are expected to arrive at the Q’ero community around 1:00 p.m., where we will be warmly welcomed by the local community in a peaceful setting, surrounded by majestic mountains.
This is where you will spend the night, immersed in the tranquility and natural beauty of Q’ero, while enjoying a unique cultural and spiritual experience offered by the community.
We will wake up at 6:00 a.m. to enjoy a nourishing breakfast, then begin our hike to the sacred mountain of Huamanlipa. The uphill trek takes approximately 2 to 3 hours, allowing us to admire the breathtaking natural scenery along the way. During the ascent, you’ll witness a stunning turquoise lagoon and the majestic snow-capped peak of the mountain. At the summit, we’ll arrive at a powerful and sacred site — ideal for performing ancestral ceremonies. Here, you will have the opportunity to experience a deep spiritual connection with nature and the ancient energies of the ancestors. After taking time for photos and the ceremony, we’ll begin our descent back to Chua Chua. The return hike is gentler and more relaxing, allowing you to continue enjoying the surrounding landscapes. Once back in Chua Chua, we’ll be welcomed with a delicious local lunch to restore our energy. In the afternoon, you’ll have the chance to meet local women renowned for their traditional weaving, showcasing textiles such as blankets, lliqllas (shawls), chuspas (bags), and more — a unique expression of Q’ero craftsmanship found only in the Cusco Andes. We’ll also visit the small village school and end the day camping overnight in our tents under the peaceful Andean sky.
As on previous mornings, we will begin the day with a warm cup of coca tea to gently awaken your senses, followed by a final delicious breakfast prepared by our talented chef.
We will then begin our hike to the serene Chua Chua Lagoon, taking time to walk along its peaceful shores, enjoy the natural beauty, and witness the real life of the local community.
At the scheduled time, we will begin our return journey to the city of Cusco, marking the end of a day filled with spiritual experiences and a deep connection with nature.
Please note: The activities on the final day may vary depending on the season and the current activities of the local community. In some cases, you may participate in a traditional communal activity.
